Since its founding in June of 2018 the Program has fixed and vaccinated over 1400 community cats.
Most outdoor cats are being cared for by someone in the community. Bringing strayferal cats to the shelter does not solve the problem. These cats produce around 80 percent of the kittens born in the US.
How the CAHS Community Cats Program helps. Gather a list of supplies you should anticipate needing for your new pet. WCHS provides spayneuter and vaccines to community cats who are successfully living outdoors in our community.
Talk to your neighbors. Community cats may be checked in for surgery between 800am 830am Tuesday-Saturday no appointment needed. Animal Friends Humane Society is a non-profit charity and serves as Butler Countys largest open admission shelter.
Free use of our live traps. In the United States approximately two percent of the 30 to 40 million community feral and stray cats have been spayed or neutered. The Humane Society of North Central Florida works closely with Operation Catnip our communitys Trap Neuter Return program to help manage the community cat population in our area.
