Puppy Food Water Schedule
Directions on the food package are only a starting guideline, so be ready to adjust the amount up or down if your baby is still hungry, or leaves food behind.
Puppy food water schedule. An eight week old puppy will only be able to hold their bladder for an hour to two hours at most. Young puppies who are transitioning from mother’s milk to solid food need 0.5 cup of water every two hours. The amount your puppy needs to drink depends on factors including the environmental temperature and their size, exercise levels, physical condition and diet.
Once your dog has been housetrained, it’s perfectly fine to leave water out and available for them 24/7. Empty and rinse the dish. Immediately after feeding, bring puppy outside to relieve himself.
Smaller breeds switch at age 7 to 9 months while larger breeds stay on puppy food until 12 to 14 months. After a month or six weeks on the food, assess your puppy’s health. Take the total amount of food your puppy needs each day and divide that into a series of smaller feedings.
Around 3:30 or 3:45 p.m., let your puppy outside to relieve himself, and then bring him inside for playtime, food and water. The amount you feed depends on your puppy's age and the type of food you offer. Choose food that has a named protein in the the first couple of slots on the label such as chicken, chicken meal. You do not want to leave food out for the puppy so that he can just eat it whenever he wants.
