Puppies go through an important socialization period from approximately three weeks.

How long do puppy fear periods last. Each cycle will last anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks. This particular puppy fear stage is believed to be related to the surge in growth that occurs at this age which may cause some physical discomfort. I believe the early issues are related to how humans handle the homing of young puppies.

A dog getting her period is usually referred to as the dog “going into heat.” it usually occurs about twice a year, with the first cycle coming sometime between the time the dog reaches six months of age and her first birthday. To stick a puppy in a car or crate, for the first time, and take them totally away from their family on their first day away from the litter ever is a cruel practice. During zoomies, puppies race round in circles and bounce off the walls.

If puppies have bad or scary experiences during this time, the impressions are likely to last a lifetime and resurface during maturity. Within a few months, your dog is likely to be just as social and happy about whatever the world brings his way as he was when he was a puppy. This fear period is believed to be tied to the dog's sexual maturity and growth spurts.

There are two major fear periods in a puppy’s socialization. I do not believe in “fear periods”. (if your puppy always found the world to be a scary place, he will most likely continue to be cautious or fearful as an adult, but he may be even more so in adolescence.)

A second fear period may also take place later on when the puppy has turned into an adolescent. These fear periods are evolutionarily programmed and are protective for dogs in the wild. How long does a dog's period last?

The second fear stage occurs right around four to six months, which is when your dog is reaching adolescence. There are certainly times in a puppy's life when they are a bit more timid than usual, this can occur when they are separated from their litter mates and mother at about 8 weeks, and can last for as short as a few days to several weeks. And quite frequently all three, in under a minute.
